Show us your Builds - User Made Tank Coils (Protanks, Nautilus Etc.)

Vapes much much better than the standard build @Matthee much better flavour and cloud production, the thing sucks juice like a mofo though
@BhavZ forgot to mention i helped build half that coil lol

LOL!
My bad, @Dr Evil wrapped one of the coils too..

Awesome.

How do you put them in parallel @BhavZ ?
Do u put 2 legs inside the insulator and 2 outside like you do for a single coil? And then make them touch?

Also, do you put a piece of cotton between the two coils ? Like a flavour wick of sorts?

To get them to sit in parallel you will need 2 screwdrivers, space the coils with the gap you want then insert them into the cup like you would a single coil. The only trick at this point is to get all the legs through the base of the cup, but of your legs are as straight as can be it does make things easier.

The legs of the coils run the same as the single coil would, 2 between the cup and insulator and 2 between the insulator and positive pin. One thing to note is that what ever you decide to make as the positive leg (touching the positive pin) must be the same on both coils, so if the left leg of one coil is going to be the positive leg (touching the positive pin) then it must be the same for the second coil.

I inserted a small piece of cotton, about half the thickness of the wicks and placed them between the coils to act as an insulator.

Thanks so much for sharing that @BhavZ

Have you found the dual coils are better? Or do you prefer the singles? (For custom built coils)

mPT2 and older PT's i find that single coil is way way better than a dual coil and the flavour is more pronounces, I think it has to do with the amount of air that can circulate around the coil, with dual coil there isn't a lot of space left and that affects air flow.

In the mPT3 dual is perfect, It hits harder than the single coil in an mPT3.

So my first real coil build and testing. Rebuilding a protank 2 coil. 32g kanthal and 2mm silica wick courtesy of @ShaneW. Ohm meter read 2.3? But anyway. Just happy it actually worked lol.

I'm proud from you bra, first time i worked with 32g kanthal was crap, wrapping it is vrek finniky. Well done man.

Looks good crack, I would have personally made the coils closer together otherwise you on track to being a coil master!

Thanks guys. @Gizmo, lol I tried but they didn't stay together. Turned out like a little spring.

If you wrapping it on a drill bit or screwdriver then squeeze them together with a tweezer, then use a cooking blow torch and light it up, that will make them stay together and it's a form of dry burning it.

So today I decided to try a bigger diameter coil in my mPT2

28g Kanthal
8 wraps
2.4 ID
1.8ohm

Looking good my man, you are becoming a pro at this!

what is today bigger inner diameter day or something?
just did one myself. 2.5 mil ID, about 7 wraps double twisted 35 gauge kanthal.
resistance comes out at 3.7 ohms though :) but man the cotton i could pack in there for the wick. busy soaking now in preparation for the vape. in case someone is wondering, coil glows up real nice and quick, ok not nearly as fast as a dripper coil but fast enough i hope

Look excellent @Dr Evil - should produce nice flavour with that increased surface area

Flavour is good, still breaking in the coil though, vapour is out of this world, ginormous clouds, the amount of cotton i can pack into it is amazing

If you can do coiling in such small space, you will find coiling tanks & drippers as easy as pie.

Thank you @johan, i think it's time i get an RTA, what do you suggest?

@Dr Evil I really don't know, preferences are as subjective as ej-uice, beginning of the year everybody was raving about the Kayfuns, and thereafter a few others like the Squape and Aqua. I suggest you read the various reviews and decide for yourself - I use to like the Kayfun Lite and the Ithaka, but after playing with RDA's, the RTA's can't give me the same flavour experience.

Thanks @johan, i checked the video of the squape from rip trippers and that looked very interesting. I'll check out some more reviews

Just built a 2.4ID 8wrap 1.8ohm coil on 28g kanthal in my mPT2 clone (called a rev tank mini).

The vapour is intense and the throat is perfect, still working the coil in so the flavour is slightly muted at this stage but it is getting better.

I think that 2.4ID is the max one can go in an mPT2 as it is pretty close to the stem and the base insulator.

I'm gonna try and squeeze an extra 2-3 wraps on one tomorrow, i want to hit 1.5ohms, it's gonna be a tight fit though, i agree that anything bigger than 2.4 might be a problem, i was going to go 3mm but i was scared it would touch the top

If you wanna go less ohms then you need less wraps dude. If you want more wraps with less ohms then you need to lower gauge wire.
