    Weekend Projects

I was thinking the same thing, lead based is a "no no" for stills. That def's looks like plumbers solder to me.

    510 pin

Nah, you dont want lead in contact with your juice. Most silicone sealers are ruled out because of the acetic acid cure. Maybe aquarium safe silicone, usually if its safe for fish it should be okay for us. Brazing would be to fiddly on such a small part. Seems like wood aka toothpick is your...

Help with my first mech mod build

+1 on bad batt choice, although I see a Sanyo NCR20700 which is rated at 15A. However you're trying to suck 23A out of it which is a disaster waiting to happen. There's a reason most veterans harp on learning the ohms law to noobs, its so you don't end up in this scenario which could likely...

    VG condensation inside electronics

I havent had an issue with my pc either, just took a peek inside and didnt see any droplets or feel any greasiness. My pc is black, but metal, so the outer and inner surfaces are pretty similar temp wise. Im of the opinion that its limited to black plastic cases with hot components inside, my...

    VG condensation inside electronics

Im very similar, 13ml, 70/30 and 8hrs + in front of the pc. @Resistance Im thinking of either aquarium mat, breather cloth used for epoxy vacuum bagging or sheet foam filter used for bikes. The issue is finding a fan that has enough static pressure to operate without sounding like an airport...

    VG condensation inside electronics

Alas neither the ups or monitor have fans, covering the vent slits might heat internals up enough to cause early failure. Theres plenty of 3D printed "solder fume extractor's" on thingyverse, for what its worth. @Munro31 I use a Citadel at 35w, so not exactly a cloud beast.

    VG condensation inside electronics

Thanks for the input, nice to see its not just me, I originally thought a cap had blown in my monitor and searched hi n low to no avail. My ups is just above the monitor and receives a direct exhale, but its a bedroom corner and an extractor fan is just going to add noise and allow dust in. I'll...

    VG condensation inside electronics

Ive been busy mostly with kites, a new Rokkaku, the ups was something I got into today, no wind and having a slow one. :) Batts are sealed lead acid 12v 7.2Ah the kind used for alarms garage gates etc.

    VG condensation inside electronics

Anybody else notice what appears and feels like VG condensate inside electronics ? Both my UPS and monitor had the same slippery beads of VG inside. I opened my my UPS because it wasnt UPS'ing anymore, I dont yet know if the batts are dead or if the VG condensate has killed it... old batts read...

    Kite aerial photgraphy. (KAP)

Was up the West coast today, so I took my rig along for a try out, I guess 100m isnt too shabby, so I'll live with it seeing as I havent found any alternatives. Langebaan main beach looking south to Pearly's.

    Kite aerial photgraphy. (KAP)

Thanks, I'll look into that. Hopefully its at least 30kg like the lacing twine Ive used.

    Kite aerial photgraphy. (KAP)

I was busy this past week on the sewing machine making a delta kite. I've been a tad disappointed with the tendency of my box kites to dive to the right with the last failure taking my camera into the sea. So new camera means new kite.:) Most of the KAPers seem to use a 2M delta so that's what...

Which Voopoo device should I go for?

podding The act of stealing or moving files, sharing music or doing other illegal activity on or with your iPod. Pod, a small group of animals ie whales or dolphins Maybe you meant pondering. Anyhow, Argus GT maybe best bet, although Im quite impressed by my Gen even though its a Vaporesso.

Anyone with a High Speed Camera on the forum?

Might want to have a look at CHDK for Canon, I know that my A480 supports motion detection to the order of 127 micro secs, used for lightning capture.
