Building my own Claptons

Hi Guys, myself and a couple of friends are looking into building our own wire.

Up until now we have been building coils from the premade geekvape wire and such and even though we could probably buy some better wire from Flatwire or UD, the appeal in buying a couple of spools Kidney Puncher and trying our hand in building outweighs that option.

Now on to the question, we mainly use rta's in dual and single coil versions, what would be the best option to start of with building that would give us the best flavour? We will start of building Claptons so I was think of doing a 26/28g ni80 and wrap with 36/38g ss316 or should I rather make the core ss316 and wrap with the ni80?

Help a newbie out!

SS is nice to use as inners if you want to play with Replay on a DNA75C but if you have no plans to use Replay then Ni80 all the way!

Also have a look at vapehyper for kidney puncher and @Throat Punch for gasphase good pricing and they sell bigger spools. You can also check gasphase directly but the pricing is the same as @Throat Punch.

Fused claptons produce awesome flavour and a great place to start building. I like 28ga for the cores and 36ga is versatile for the outer wrap it's thin but not too thin.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll get spools of Nichrome first to play around with. Vape Hyper is probably the closest to me so I'll give them a go.

Have been watching A LOT of you-tube video`s the last week!! (and I mean a lot of video`s)
Last night at around 22H00 I finished the first set of coils. Only after a shit load of practice runs and meters of wire!
Dual core Clapton's.
Core wire = 24ga Nicr80
Wrap = 34ga NiCr80
6 x wraps with 3 mm id.
Ohm at 0.14Ώ
I like this coil building moves, stimulates the mind.

Already contemplating my next build!!

Got a pair of single core Clapton`s in my Creed RTA and by far better taste.

Did another build. This time the core is 3x 24ga NI80 twisted and wrapped with 36ga NI80. 5x wraps with 3mm id.

Don’t know what to call it but looks nice!!
Still need to cut and check the ohms and then vape it for taste.

My first ever fused clapton:
Not pretty but atleast the first one is made.

Dual core 24G Nichrome wire
40G Nichrome wrap wire
2.5mm id
6 full wraps
.25 ohm reading

So today I tried the "Staggered Fused Clapton" coil.
Core wire @ 28ga
Clapton wire @ 32ga
Fuse wire @ 34ga
5x wraps @ 2.5mm ID
Dual coils @ 0.2Ω

I found that the smaller id (2.5mm) works better in the RTA`s as you don`t have much space for 3mm id coils.

Not perfect yet, but I`ll get there. Fusing the two Clapton's together is a *****!!!
Taste is excellent, way better that a normal Clapton coil!!

I saw a video once, the guy used a handdrill for wrapping the two cores together, its difficult with a power drill as u cannot control the rotations.

You mean like a cordless drill / screwdriver. The one where you can control the variable speed at the press of the button.
