Hi Ecigssa members, In this review i take a look at the eMASK 218W Mod from Vzone. The eMASK 218W Mod was supplied for the purpose of this review by Yolanda from Vzone.

Introduction

I have reviewed a few devices from Vzone and all have been high quality products, the Graffiti 220W and the Cultura have probably been the picks of the previous reviews. Their latest device is the eMask 218W which is a high quality device which has an interior water repellent construction and even the mesh for venting repels water so rain for example doesn't stop you from vaping. The device also has a mask either side with galactic outer space nebulae design central behind the mask. The device runs off duel 18650 batteries and also has LED display with 5 options or turn the lighting off.

1x User Manual
1x USB Cable

Aesthetics and Ergonomics

The eMask 218W comes in cardboard packaging which as a sleeve with the same mask design as is on both sides of the device, i received the Champagne colour, it is also available in Gentian, Rainbow, Pearl and Pistol. The device is slightly larger than average but not too big and has some reassuring weight to it, it is a rectangular shape with cut corners, it has a nice hexagonal fire button and i would describe the device as average when it comes to ergonomics. Both sides have an identical ventilation mask, one side is fixed the other is removable to fit your batteries. The mask is made up of a central section that has triangular cutouts, behind this is a galactic outer space nebulae design, to each side of this central section is strips of what looks like very fine mesh. The front of the device has the large hexagonal fire button at the top, at the bottom we have the - and + buttons, then very bottom the micro USB port, housed centrally on the front is the 0.96" screen. The spine of the device is featureless, the bottom has branding and safety stamps etched on very deeply demonstrating the thickness of the metal (this is a high quality solid device). Moving to the top of the device we have a central 510 plate with cog design, this surrounds the gold plated, spring loaded 510. I did see a review for one of the sample devices which was great build quality apart from button rattle, i received one of the first retail devices and can confirm no rattle whatsoever in fact the build quality is impressive.

eMASK Features:

IPX7 interior water protection construction
Large ventilation mask

218W Max output with high performance VW/ TC modes
Attractive TC MOD with ergonomic and compact design

Water Repellent

The eMASK has a high quality water repellent coating to keep it's interior dry, it protects the PCBA from water, rain and liquid interference. There is 2 mesh strips either side on the masks, under one of these is the battery compartment and when i got caught in the rain on Friday i just carried on vaping and noticed the battery compartment stayed bone dry. I assume it's done by the mesh being very fine with each strand of mesh possibly edged to reflect water but i'm guessing. The eMask has a water resistant rating of IPX7.

Using the eMask

The two sides match each other that exactly you need to look at the base where there is a notch to pull off the battery door side. The door is secured by large magnets and is very secure, the battery compartment is clean and tidy but yet again orientation is black on black so not as clear as it should be. The device is the usual 5 clicks on and 5 clicks off and once on you are met by a nice bright display with a wealth of information, the layout is very well done so despite there being plenty of info everything can be clearly read and understood. At the top of the display we have the wattage (this changes to temperature when using a temp control wire), below this to the left we have resistance and to the right the amps, below the resistance we have a vertical battery status bar and to the right of this at the top we have the volts (watts when in temp control), below the volts to the left we have seconds vaped and to the right the M mode (when this displays M there is no memory slot selected, the memory slots are M1, M2 and M3), at the bottom of the screen to the left we have the preheat and to the right we have the mode. Using the device is easy, 3 clicks of the fire button highlights first the resistance, then you can move around the screen using the + and - buttons then press the fire button when on the item you want to set. Selecting resistance allows you to reset it, selecting the battery bar actually doesn't give any info about the battery but tells you information about the device including software and hardware versions. Selecting the preheat allows you to choose between norm, soft, hard or user (custom curve), when you select the mode it gives you the choice of Kanthal which just means wattage it doesn't have to be kanthal your using, SS316, NI200, TI and TCR. When you are in temp control the volts changes to watts and now becomes information that will highlight on the screen so you can select wattage for temp control. The only other item that highlights as you move around the screen is your memory, as i already mentioned you have the choice of M (nothing selected) M1, M2 or M3. There are a couple of combination key press features the first of which is fire and + together which locks and unlocks the device, finally fire and - together brings up the LED settings. When you choose to have the LED's on it lights up the galactic outer space nebulae design on the opposite side to the batteries, and only lights up while vaping you can have random colour, Blue, Red, Green, Purple or turn them off.

Performance

The eMask fires instantly and seems very accurate, i love the travel of the fire button (just enough where it shouldn't fire by accident but not too much). I always use the curves feature when a device has it and the curves feature on the eMask is as good as i've used. I will have to wait to see charts on the device to know top wattage but probably around the 180w mark. You can fit up to 26mm tanks without overhang which covers the majority of tanks also the device seemed very efficient as the duel 18650's did seem to give slightly more vape time than usual unless it was my imagination. The eMASK supports 1.5v balanced charging and is fully firmware upgradeable.

Conclusion

If you have read any of my other Vzone reviews i make no apology for absolutely rating their products very highly and the eMask is there best yet, performing every bit as good as the Graffiti but with the added waterproof and LED features.

Vzone are a small manufacturer that produces quality products we're not talking mass production like the more well known manufacturers so the downside to that is they are not the cheapest of products but i have found when there products have been out a while and they become more available the price does fall. It's down to quality verses price and everyone will view things differently. I had a look for you because i know when i first looked a couple of weeks ago i could only find it at Heaven gifts at $87 but now a few more places have it i have found it at around $70 in china and about £50 in the UK, to be honest unless a vendor has a great pre-sale offer on a product i always find it best to wait a while to buy products as prices fall after only a few weeks of release, that goes for most products, so anyone interested i would advise to hold fire.

I don't mind paying a few bucks more for a better product and as you noted the price will drop over time.$70 dollars for a quality device isn't bad.
