I purchased the Joyetech Cuboid just over 2 months ago.

There has been no liquid damage on the device. I haven't dropped the device. I married the same two batteries from the day I first used it. I always used an external charger (Efest LUC V4 four bay charger) and never charged the batteries in the device.

It connects to the PC and I have updated to v3.13 from v3.12, the display comes on (only when connected to PC) but when pushing the fire button 5 times to turn on it says “Check Battery”.
When not connected to the PC, the unit remains completely dead.

I have even purchased 2 new batteries and it says the same. Polarity is definitely correct. The battery levels on the display show empty.

I had a similar issue with a Cuboid some time ago - also after doing a software update. Try reloading the older software again, check if it works and then redoing the upgrade. It is possible that something went wrong with the upgrade

I found that if you use a different USB cable than the one that comes with the mod, it sometimes doesn't connect 100%, which brings us back to the above, try reloading the old software, then updating.

Take it back to the vendor to test, I had to return two of my cuboids back to vendor due to atomizer short faults. It seems to be a pretty faulty device

I know that feeling when your mod isn't working, I hope you come, right buddy.

Sounds like bad battery contacts. Or a battery connection issue in the mod it self which would explain it working properly when powered via USB
