First off, Whats included in the box
Lets get to actual unboxing and walking through each part of the device as we view it.
Opening the box, you are greeted with the awesome stylish device in the top compartment. It has several separate resin parts on the battery cover which i think looks absolutely epic and feels great!
In the bottom of the box you will find a really cool looking Freemax Mpro subohm tank prefitted with a bubble glass as well as a dual coil. In the box is the usual manuals, warranty cards with USB cable, and a spare straight glass and an extra single coil.
The Mpro tank has several resin inserts including the drip tip, top cap, bottom airflow ring and it really does look great and looks beastly! However this is a big and bulky tank! Its bigger than the Zues X Subohm.
The MPro tank comes with several different coil types and included in the kit is the M1 and M2 coils. Both of these coils provide excellent mesh flavor on different juice profiles i tried. The coils provide great thick clouds with really good flavor with a very open airflow and quick wicking. The coils also did not give me any dry hits or run dry while using the coils up to 55W. I dont really vape higher than this on any of my devices but the coils were able accommodate even higher without any issues.
Now comes the fun part of the Maxus range of devices. They are all designed with a "Smart Load" function which means the device chip set is able to recognize the batteries doesn't matter which way they are fitted. So they can both be fitted with the positive side up, negative side up or literally any way you want and the device will pick up the batteries and work as normal. This is a very cool feature and im sure that Freemax is the first company to do this but i personally think its only "that" cool up to a point. Im more concerned about how safe this is and how the chipset which ive seen is several Mosfet chips will handle this over time.
Both Batteries fitted with the positive down and the device powers up like normal.
Both Batteries fitted with the positive up and the device powers up like normal.
Here we can see the main screen of the device. It shows all the important and necessary information like the battery levels, your power mode and power or TCR level, Puff count, Resistance and the Volts.
The buttons used are nice and gives the device an expensive and elegant look and feel. the buttons are solid and has a nice press and feel to them.
Pressing the fire button 3 x times, will enter into the menu mode which provides you with several features.
Selecting Mode will provide you with the list of output modes that can be used from power, bypass, TCR and TC.
Multiple Output Modes
& Smart Coil Detection Function
Multiple output mode including: Power, VPC, Bypass, TC-TI, TC-SS, TC-NI and TCR.
TC heating element will be automatically detected and the mod will adjust to ‘temperature control mode’, if the previous mode setting is ‘power’, and vice versa.
The Set menu has several cool functions which i havent seen on most recent mods.
- Timeout - You can manually set the draw time out between 5 to 15 seconds, love this!
- Coil Test - On/Off for the device the check and recognize the coil
- Puff - Puff counter reset
- Time - Puff time and reset
- Deg or Fahrenheit Setup
- Device Reset to the complete device settings.
Within the info menu, you are able to check the actual batter voltage for each battery, device firmware version, The device temperature which is another cool function especially with the battery any way round function.
Holding the bottom buttons in will lock the keypad of the device
I compared the size of the Voopoo Drag 2 Platinum with the Maxus 200w and you can see that the Maxus is slightly taller and the tank ZEUS X Subohm tank is also slightly smaller than the Freemax MPro tank.
So the device does feel a little bulky and heavy!
Filling e liquid is super easy. Pushing the top cap back opens up the door for filling.
Then onto the several different color options that is available for this kit
Pro's
- Excellent build and feel quality, feels super expensive.
- Easy to use menu's and great menu options
- Excellent flavor from the coils
- C Type USB connection
- Auto coil detection
- Very open to very restrictive airflow control on the tank
- No whistling from the tank airflow when taking a draw
Con's
- Slight battery door movement and rattle side to side
- Bulky and quite heavy
- The slide fill cap requires the drip tip to be removed if using a 100ml bottle to fill.
My verdict
This is a remarkable device, from looks too feel its absolutely great and i have a feeling this will quickly become a leader in the field as its really that great. The device has great features suitable for any user with lots of customization in the settings. Although its a little bulky, heavy and big, its a really good device. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new kit but personally i think its a little heavy and big for a daily out and about for me personally. The 100W might be the one i prefer. The coils have excellent flavor as with all other Freemax tanks like the Fireluke. So yeah give this kit a try, im sure most of you would love it!
