Does juice go off? There are no expiry / best before dates on the bottles.

Hi @Hooked

You are asking a good question.

I do not know the exact answer but I would say that it depends on the juice itself and how it is stored.

I have vaped some of my own juices that have been in a dark cool cupboard for as much as two years and they seem fine to me. I think the flavours and the nicotine may degrade a bit over time but I dont think its like milk that "goes off" after a particular length of time.

If you store the juice bottle half full in sunlight or heat some of the time I think it will probably degrade a lot faster. Its the heat and exposure to air that seems to degrade it faster.

I think its best to keep your juice in a cool dark place when not in use.

Unfortunately juice does go off. It does have quite the extended shelf life, but some juices may go off after a period of even 6 months. I know there are places out there who does lab testing and will tell you exactly, based on your recipe, how long the juice will last. As it is, we're looking into exactly that but I think the normal DIY'er out there may not want to afford the cost of doing something like that. Typically juice lasts between 1yr - 1.5yrs but it all depends on the concentrates you use. Also take into consideration that even if you use the same concentrates to make a specific recipe and you have done so the past year or so even, it may be that one of the concentrates you used was close to its specific shelf life and thus your juice may not last as long as it usually does.

The only thing I know of that does not go off is Honey. Not honey concentrate (we wish), the actual thing. I saw on a program once where they found honey preserved in a bottle from, I stand under correction, the Egyptian times (200BC or such), which was still edible.
