So last week I started building coils. I wanted a coil in the .2-.3 range so I did a double coil build 5 wraps 24g kanthal. That was simple it seems to fire properly it tastes good at the beginning and its exactly what I want.

the problem I'm having is I've noticed the coil isnt pulling all the juice from my cotton so my cotton gets dirty really fast, I know I'm wicking properly it's not too thick. and I don't have the same issue when I put in pre-built .45 ohm alien Clapton's I've got lying around from the vape store near me so I know its definitely something wrong with the coils I build.

so I just need some advice what could be the problem?

TL;DR basically cotton wet but getting dry hits still... dont know why

Reason why I am asking is normal roundwire heats up a little bit quicker than the exotic builds and it could be that it burns trough the center of your cotton. The smaller internal diameter coils also sometimes does this resulting in a dry hit with the sides of the cotton still being wet.
Aliens also have a neat trick up their sleeve where they basically wick a little bit(keeping juice between the grooves) might also be why you dont notice it on them and then the wire mass also plays a role in how quickly the coils heat up.

Are you using an rda or rta?

I was just about to tag you @Friep.
could also be too little cotton, but I go with what you said.

What wattage are you vaping at?
What is the internal diameter of your coils?

Im using a noisy cricket v2 so I don't know the exact wattage, but I'm running it in parallel with the dial set to the lowest. My build is the Noisey cricket V2 with a Vandy Vape Pulse 24 rda

the diameter of my coils is 2.8mm because I've got the the vandy vape toolkit so I just wrapped the coils around my 2.8mm screwdriver, the other 2 screwdrivers are 3mm and 3.5mm so I can make my coils diameter wider if needed.

as for cotton im 100% sure its not my wicking I've been wicking my own vape for really since I started vaping a year ago and I never get this issue the issue only began when I started building my own coils. I can try wrapping thicker coils the only reason I wrapped them on the 2.8mm is that I wanted coils around .2-.29 resistance and the coils fire great, flavours great the build actually tastes amazing however I noticed my cottons always wet and usually by the end of the day my cotton will be all brown and saturated with liquid but when I pull I get dry hits so it makes no sense

What juice are you using @Megamuffin ?
Is it the same juice you use in other setups that works fine?

post a pic of your atty.not a clean new wick but the one thats used and your having trouble with

Hey @Megamuffin, plenty of more expert coil builders on forum to advise you, the only thing I would point out that you can rule out of being a part of the problem is your mention of the dial setting on Noisy Cricket v2. If you are running in parallel it is unregulated. The dial only comes into play if you are in series regulated mode. Hope you get sorted.
