My favourite mod, the Pulse X, has most likely seen its last day.
The other night I realised that the screen was flickering (i.e. dim & bright if you will) whilst firing the mod. I found this a little strange and thought it might be a little bit of juice that has made its way onto the board. Whilst still looking at the screen, it just went off. I initially thought the screen had timed out, so tried to adjust wattage, but the screen did not come on at all. I then realised that the screen, or the board must have died.
Seeing as the mod is out of warrantee I thought I would open it up and have a look. Upon opening the panel, I found that the ribbon cable on the screen (not the board itself) had come loose.
A friend of mine (who is "electronically" savvy) had a look and essentially, the section of the ribbon cable that connects to the screen can't be re-attached as the connectors are hair fine and was factory fitted with some sort of silcone glue, so will not be able to resolder it and that is, IF he can line the contacts up.
I have also had a chat with Vape Mafia, and they informed me that this is a "hit and miss" sort of thing. Sometimes they can get it working again, and sometimes not.
I have tried to see if I can find out what type of screen it is, but this seems to be a difficult task.
Can anyone point me in the right direction in terms of the type of screen that it may be, or, if anyone has a Pulse mod that no longer works, would you be willing to part with it so that I can get my hands on the screen?
I'm desperate, this has been my go-to, daily runner for more than a year and I love this mod. If at all possible, I would love to get it working again.
