Getting the oldheads to the vapeshop... (self.electronic_cigarette)
by bacdeusa
I was running some errands the other day around town and was puffing on my mod. This oldhead (respectful term for an older person for non-Philadelphians lol) comes up to me and asks if my mod was for quitting smoking. I explain that it is a nicotine inhalation device that can be used to supplement nicotine while quitting smoking and beyond. I quoted recent articles (Time & Rolling Stone) and gave him the whole spiel. He was intrigued and told me that he had promised his wife he would quit smoking by his upcoming 75th birthday.
I asked him if he had an hour to spare and he did. I walked him down 8 blocks to the closest vape shop, talking the whole time about how vaping helped me quit smoking and how much better I feel. He was telling me about how he just can't seem to breathe much without hacking up gunk and was ready to quit. The shop I took him to was a cloud bro haven, so I told the guys behind the counter that we were just looking as they would have been apt to have him walk out of there with a mech and RDA with no clue how to use either. I helped him pick out an Innokin Endura T-18 (The same model I won from Innokin a few weeks ago and gave to another smoker friend), extra coils and a bottle of Ruthless EZ-Duz It on Ice. His mod was charged already, so I helped him get it set up. He took a handful of puffs off it and was blown away. "That's better than my Newports!" was the first thing he said. We exchanged information and I made him promise to contact me if he needed help with the mod or upgrading.
I didn't expect to spend the day helping this guy out, but the opportunity arose. I feel like those of us who are vaping now need to be ambassadors of a sort... taking the time to talk to those who show genuine interest. We are spreading the word of vaping and raising our influence with each new vaper that we take away from big tobacco.
