Good day,

Currently using subtank on a mech mod and noticed that it misfires now and then.
I saw a spark from the atty by the base, so I checked resistance and everything is fine. Assembled everything together and its not misfiring anymore but the base of atty still gets hot ( feels like shock) if you have your hands on them.
Is it normal??
Thanks in advance

Probably shorting at the base of the 510 of the subtank. Personally I do not use RTA's on mechs.

What mech mod? Hopefully it's not one like the smpl, they are known to cause problems with commercial tanks

@Andre thanks!
@ET It is not a hybrid. Using an anarchist mod (amod clone ). I believe hybrids can cause problems with some tanks' pins

Try taking the subtank base , pop out the bottom copper pin and carefully take out the rubber grommet and inspect for any tears/damage and give it all a good clean whilst you're at it :)

@ET thanks for the quick response!
Struggling to get the base off the airflow part. Some of these threads are so difficult to get off /: Will give it another try.
Thanks a lot!

Stop "struggling" and just "buy another one", tell yourself it is for safety reasons and then you will not feel (so) bad

@DarkSide I like to troubleshoot and try to find the cause of the problem before going out to buy a new mod every time there is a problem. Isnt that the purpose of a mech?

Point well taken, thanks @Alex_123 Amazing that I can build complex computer setups, but battle to make s decent coil, but this is how we learn.

Dude i don't think the base actually comes apart, unless it does and i don't know about it :)

@Dubz my base must be really locked on to the beauty ring. Ive tried everything but pliers. Afraids to damage the threads. I saw a spark within the base+beauty ring and really want to take it apart to have a look. Seems to be working fine today though. I just dont like the risks!

What is this "beauty ring" that you are referring to? Try using rubber/silicone gloves - it gives a better grip.

@Dubz I believe its a ring that sits below the base to give it more of a flushed look to the mechs.

Oh yes, so you have the original Subtank then. Some people say leaving the problem parts in the freezer for a while will work as the cold should make it easier to get apart.

@Dubz yes. It is the original subtank! I'll post here what happens after I give it a try.
Thanks for all the help! :)

No problem man. Also now that i know it's the original Subtank - when you get the 2 parts separated check the 510 pin, i know the original Subtank has a spring loaded pin so maybe that spring has collapsed which could be the cause of your misfiring issues...

Finally got the beauty ring off the base!
I left the base in the freezer over night and tried opening it, didnt work. So I ran hot water over it and tried again and it screwed off!
After 3 days and a sore thumb, finally got to clean the inside of my subtank.
Just putting it out there for other subtank users! :)

Aye, if there was a camera pointed at my face last night as i tried to take apart my subtank base, well, yeah just glad there wasn't. The little bugger doesnt want to come apart. Will give the hot water treatment a try later
