Ahh..you really didn't need to do that! Thanks though :) for science right.
So much for rayon's scorch resistance. I'm going to try some different builds.
28g 2mm 1.1Ω - so with a heat capacity of 16.25mJ/K (thanks Steam Engine) it's pretty fast ramp up.
But still, that much scorching? Nah. Wick was always wet, no chain vaping. Oh well let's see if readyxwick will save the day.
I normally use 27g or 26g but not on my RM2/Reo Mini.
EDIT actually...
So I gave it a try and I'm impressed. Quite crisp in terms of taste/feel.
I thought rayon was more resistant to scorching than cotton but not in my experience:
@shaunnadan any ideas?
Good info. Thanks.
I have 2mm and 3mm, I'll adapt accordingly from your example though.
How long do you torch the wick for? Both when prepping for first use and to clean between juices. I just have a bic lighter no fancy flame torch.
Are there any tricks to wicking with readyxwick, for people who are used to cotton, besides angling the coil at roughly 45 degrees and sliding something through it to get the hose action going? And letting the one tail touch the deck of course.
No, I'm not a bot. Yes, I'm almost out of cotton.
Are there any tricks to wicking with rayon, for people who are used to cotton, besides making it slightly thicker/fuller (zero air pockets)?
I've seen lots of different techniques like trimming the tails to be half the width of the body that touches the inner coil etc etc. Is this necessary?
Nothing dark.
Yep I wonder what percentage of the discolouration is due to caramelisation from the juice vs scorching from the heat of the coil.
If you're talking about rxw, I tried it some months ago with angled coils etc but I couldn't enjoy it. I could give it another go.
I'm curious how other people's wicks look just before they replace them.
This is mine after about 16ml. I'm still waiting for wickless vaping to become a thing. Can't handle this shit.
I think I'm gonna go back to silica.
Tips? Tricks? Unavoidable part of vaping?
Yeah it definitely has its place. I like it.
Just weird about the heat. In my mind I don't see that many factors that would be at play. Same coil with same heat and time to temp, same draw length, same amount of current, and it doesn't get nearly as hot in the RM2. Which has a similar chamber...
What good is a hot spring if your mod auto fires? It won't collapse, the atomizer/coil/wick will just get really really hot until something gives or fizzles out.
For those mods that don't have a locking mechanism, surely there's a way to adjust the button throw? Then just adjust it so that it's...
Hi
Are there any good resources for info about SS vs Kanthal as a heating element? I get the impression that while it's probably nice it's just a fad (similar to the RxW camp). Wouldn't mind being proved wrong though.
