Assuming of course you've tried several tanks on there and they all ohm jump, then yes it's most likely the minikin. What tank are you using? Could just be a sligtly loose 510 pin on the tank or a coil wire that's not 100% properly secured. Or it could be one of the cursed black limitless xl...

You don't really need to remove the 510. Just desolder the wires and cover the 510 with prestik or hotglue

Noob mistake # 4. Having several open concentrate bottles right next to your bottle you're mixing in and then squirting some blueberry concentrate into your vanilla bean ice cream concentrate bottle instead of the empty mixing bottle :(

Hotspots kick mods out of temp mode, you know where wires touch each other. That's why temp control coils are spaced after all. Has anyone here run stainless claptons in temp mode yet?
