Last week I went on to Art of Vape's site, having been referred to it because they had coffee juice which I don't have. I was tremendously excited, not only by the coffee juice, but by other juice which I haven't seen elsewhere. My excitement soon changed.

These are the issues which will be discussed:
  1. Shipping details were not emailed.
  2. Lack of notification, with the juice on the website, that it would be decanted into smaller bottles.
  3. A bottle of juice sent without a pouring nozzle.

1. Shipping Details were not emailed
I received a confirmation of my order, but after waiting a day I still had not received any shipping details in spite of ...

We will notify you when sent.PNG

I phoned Art of Vape and spoke to the owner, Talha. He assured me that my order had been sent and tried to track it while on the phone to me. He had difficulty doing that because, he said, he doesn't know how to track. I told him that I know very well how to track, that he must just give me the courier details, which he did. When asked why no email had been sent with courier details he replied that they usually do. Usually? Why not always?

2. Lack of notification, with the juice on the website, that it would be decanted into smaller bottles.

When I received my order, I was speechless.

I ordered these, which is a screenshot of "Just Arrived" on the website:

And received these:
Decanted.jpg

Plastic bottles; name of juice handwritten on the bottle; nic strength not even stated.

Again I phoned Talha. He explained that he decants international juice into smaller bottles. I don't have a problem with that - in fact, I think it's an excellent idea as it makes international juice affordable. Most international juice is available only in 60ml or more.

However, I do have a problem with the fact that the website does not state, with the juice, that it will be decanted. Ah, but it is, he corrected me - but it's somewhere else on the site. He told me where to look and sent me a screenshot and yes, it's there - in a section called "30mls".

When I go to a website I don't search for 30ml bottles - I search for the specific juice which I want, or I browse through Local or International liquids, or New Arrivals. My purpose is not to buy a 30ml bottle, which proves that size doesn't matter.

This is what appears only in the 30ml section:

Notification of rebottling.jpg

Since I was not in the 30ml section, but in "Just Arrived", there was no way of my knowing that the juice would be decanted. That information should be stated with the picture etc of the juice, irrespective of which section the juice is in. Talha agreed to change the website. We spoke on 2 August. I checked the website this morning and no changes have been made.

I was particularly disappointed in not receiving the bottle of Cypress by Barrel & Co., as I had bought it only because of the attractive bottle. Talha said that he would "buy the rest of the juice" in the bottle and send me the empty bottle. That was on Thursday 2 August. Let me see if he does what he promised to do.

Furthermore, the nic strength was not stated on any of the decanted bottles. Talha said that it was the nic strength which I had ordered. I don't order the same nic strength for all juices, so now I must go back to my order to check, but ... the nic strength isn't stated on the order either!!

Talha offered to refund me immediately, but I declined his offer. When I complain about an issue (and I seldom have reason to complain with other vendors) I do so because of the issue - not because I want a refund of juice which is already in my possession. That would hardly be fair.

To summarise:
My issue WAS NOT that the juice was decanted into a smaller bottle. My issue was the lack of notification, with the juice on the website, that this would be done.

Please note: I said "My issue WAS" - not, My issue IS. On second thoughts, I do have some concerns.
  1. How do I know what is in the decanted bottle? Any juice could have been put into the bottles.
  2. Assuming that it is the original juice in the decanted bottles, how do I know that it was decanted under hygienic conditions?
If I bought or received decanted juice from a private person, the above concerns could also apply - but wouldn't, if I knew the person. Furthermore, it is unlikely that a private person would replace the original juice with a substitute. They would have nothing to gain by doing that.

A vendor, on the other hand, has everything to gain. How easy it would be to replace the original juice with one which costs half the price. Easy money. I'm not saying that this has been done in this case, but that it could have been done.

3. A bottle of juice sent without a pouring nozzle.

I ordered a bottle of Suicide Bunny - Mother's Milk. This is what I received (the original bottle, not decanted).

There's no nozzle - it's just an ordinary screw cap. I have purchased international juice before which also had no nozzle, but a separate bottle was in the box. Fortunately I have bottles into which I can decant, but what if I didn't? I realised that there was no nozzle only later that evening and quite frankly, I just couldn't be bothered phoning Talha again. One must choose one's battles, which begs the question: Is a nozzle worth fighting for?

A no-problem item
The only item with which there is no problem is this locally-made caffeine boost, which looks interesting.

Apparently it is to be added to whichever juice one is vaping.

Before I conclude, here is a summary of the issues which I have with Art of Vape.
  1. Shipping details were not emailed.
  2. Lack of notification, with the juice on the website, that it would be decanted into smaller bottles.
  3. A bottle of juice sent without a pouring nozzle.
In conclusion, what began as excitement has turned into disappointment. Would I buy from this vendor again? I'm not sure. Would you?

@skola

Those bottles look completely unprofessional. Like somebody made some DIY juice in their kitchen. Which is not a problem if that was the case.

This guy runs a bussines. At least get a cheap label maker from Makro to make it look better.

I would be so :-@:swear: if I got my order and it looked like yours I am talking about those hand written juice bottles WTF:banghead:. Thank you for your review @Hooked . Stay clear from this vendor checked on my list.

Wow that is pathetic to say the least. Either do things properly or dont offer a half assed product.

And yet another reason why vaping needs to be controlled by the the higher powers.

This is the equivalent of buying a loose from the guy on the corner of the street.
I can't see how decanting can even be a practise from a reputable vape shop.

I see they state the reason is so that "one can buy international juice at local prices" I call bull shyt, a 60ml international retails for R250 ÷ 2 decanted bottles that's R125 a 30ml bottle .

So your reasoning should actually state- it's so that we can make more profit off a bottle.

@Clouds4Days prices differ for international liquids. You said R250 / 60ml - that's the lowest! Internationals go for anything from R250 - R400

Thanks for clearing up the price difference @Hooked (my post has been changed) and appologies to A.O.V for jumping the gun but decanting should still not be something that is being practised.

Will steer well clear of this shitty retailer. Cheaper prices my ass. You have zero assurance that what ended up in the decanted bottle was even the original to begin with. The owner needs a smack and maybe some instruction on ethical business practices.

How common is this practise of giving you store credit instead of giving your money back? I'm sorry, if the error was on your part as the store, I damn well want my money back. Now I have 2 reasons not to do business with this store.

In all honesty I have visited art of vape and met talha, he's a really swell guy.

Theyre about 3kms from my place of work and in the few times that I have been there, they were an excellent crew-very helpful and energetic.

@BioHAZarD Art of Vape and The Vape Industry @Naeem_M have got NOTHING to do with each other!!!!! :-@:-@ The Vape Industry is a highly professional vape shop who would never think of decanting juice and sending it to their customers in plastic bottles!! Before you paste things in a thread and go off the deep end, get your facts right!!!! There is NOTHING on Art of Vape's site which refers to The Vape Industry. I suggest that you had multiple tabs open and became confused. How can you even consider tainting The Vape Industry by associating them with Art of Vape???

I'm looking at a cached copy of Art of Vapes Terms & Conditions page as their site is conveniently being redesigned.
@Hooked ,What @BioHAZarD posted is exactly what was on their website....

EDIT: Here is the ink to the cached page if anybody is interested

@Hooked please check yourself and make sure where you reply that you are working on actual facts. If you look at the number on screenshot you will also see that it is the same as the one that you posted for Art of Vape
