if your drain has a trap - that u shape bend on the rubber pipe - then it is probably there....

I disassembled my kitchen drain once to find a rogue post screw that got washed away.

I learnt a few things that day:
1. Never wash directly over a open sink.
2. It is easy to disassemble kitchen drain pipes.
3. Replace the U pipe every few years especially if you have unnoticed mold growing under your sink cupboards that you never use.
4. Check drainage areas that are not generally visible occasionally to see if any leaks have sprung.
