Braai Check

Surprisingly, she suggested it... and it cost about the same as replacing my 30 year-old Weber.

I'm really enjoying it, as if I could say anything to make myself even less popular with the charcoal aficionados.
I Braai in a tiny barrel braai because of environmental considerations and I enjoy gas. I don't have a roofed area to braai and think these fancy braais should be protected from the elements. Where I can I like charcoal made with invasive species of trees. Pity they don't harvest what is a problem in some areas. "Mesquite" It a nice flavor for smoking and am sure would be good to braai with.

You could always start SMOKING in there. That'll be awesome

My son, daughter inlaw and grandson came to visit a few weeks ago. This was a leftover pork roast. A mix big for just my wife and I, but had to use it sometime.
Roast potatoes, onions and butternut and gravy to go with it.

How long do you do your baked potatoes more or less? Not by choice, ours are done in the microwave. Crave an oven or braaied baked potato.
I cheat and pre cook them in the microwave for about 10 minutes turning halfway then tin foil and a blob of butter and then just leave them in the fire till the rest is ready.

Nice. Try a bit of Aromat on some butter / margarine on the foil before you wrap them.

With a moerse lump of proper butter!

I don't like using foil. If I pre-cook or toss them on raw I do the skewer test.
Sometime butter or garlic n herb mix. Sometimes I just use the marinade I'm using for the braai to brush the potatoes and butter when done. Havent had a potato braai in a while though.

A bit of a Load Shedding braai. Toasties being kept warm under the braai.
Belly Pork Sosaties, Rashers, Salads, Pineapple, Toasties and Pineapple e-liquid in the tank.

4 hour loadshedding and a man needs to eat sometimes.
Yeah. I'm braaing again this evening. I love braaiing but it's also because of Load Shedding. I believe a lot of people are doing takeaways. It must be so expensive but I understand when your working and going home to no power it's a big issue. Don't know how they manage with kids, homework and normal family routine with no electricity.

I have taken to cooking in bulk on the weekends and freezing and taking it out and whack in the microwave. That’s been our solution to this load shedding nightmare with kids. Take out all the time is definitely not an option for us!
