So I have a bit of confusion about this since it will be my first time doing so but I want to bring my vape with me down to Durban this weekend. I will be flying down so i wanted to ask if there's anything in particular that i should know ahead of time regarding the batteries, juice, etc when going through security? Must i declare it, take it out or can i just send my bag through with the stuff still inside?

Also the same goes for a disposable because i plan to fly down with that as well.

Put disposables in separate ziplocks, for incase it leaks. Same with juice bottles. Don't fill your tank before flying, only fill up once you reach destination. Carry everything in your carry on luggage, not stowed luggage. You'll be just fine with it all. And make sure anything that can switch off is switched off.

Thank you, i appreciate it.

If your juice is 100ml, then put it in your checked-in luggage. Anything with a battery and batteries in your carry-on. If you have a toolkit with scissors etc., in your checked-in luggage. If you have an RTA with juice, hold it inverted during take-off and landing.

Last time they stopped me coz I had a scissor in my laptop bag with my vape... They called the supervisor but cleared me. Felt like they were treating me like a criminal lol

I’ve flown with my vape a few times, and here's what I learned. Most airlines allow you to carry e-cigarettes and juice in your carry-on, but it's best to check the specific rules for your airline. Usually, you don’t have to declare it, but taking it out during security can help speed things up since it’s a bit of a hot topic at checkpoints.

Make sure your vape batteries are in your carry-on and not in checked luggage, and keep your e-liquid containers under the allowed liquid limit.

Last time I traveled, I found Affordable Premium Travel options for my flights, which made the whole experience feel nicer without breaking the bank.

I didn't find carrying a vape to be a hot topic on my holiday I got back from last week, though we did go to Indonesia via Singapore and with the former country being very vape friendly.

We took 7 different flights with Singapore Airlines, Citilink and Super Air Jet. Only once in Singapore was I asked to take my vape out of my bag and I just showed the guy that it had no batteries in it.

As one who spends a lot of time in planes, here is my take.

- Batteries and devices in carry on.
- 100ml or more juice in checked (less than 100ml is fine in carry on)
- Ziplock bags and paper towel is your friend. Everything leaks when the air pressure changes.
- A small disposable or pod pod device in your pocket is handy on long flights (after 2 hours or so the cravings will kick in, time for a sneaky puff)
- If you get your bag scanned at the airport and they look at your vape funny and ask you what it is, you have asthma and this is your pump. Worked for me so many times, just don't hit the fire button when you show them.

(walks up to security with Gaur-21 and Reload on top)
(me) "This is my asthma pump"
(security guy) "Geoff! Geoff!! Come check this out! This is the biggest M-F asthma pump I've seen in my life!"

KLM and Qatar Airlines have different rules. One your batteries in hand luggage and the other batteries in cargo luggage. One has to check with the specific airline. But both have no problem if you have a vape in your pocket. Make sure for yourself.
