I am not saying xtar are not very good chargers because being a reviewer i know every single manufacturer of vaping products would have some people who have had bad experiences with their products, no different with chargers it's just in my case i have found them unreliable but then although i can't fault Nitecore from experience others would no doubt of had a different experience!
I prefer xtar because I’ve had less bays fail than a nitecore and also xtar has been the brand that has lasted me the longest i.e. I’ve gotten the most miles out of xtar and they are still going strong. Any other charger I buy is purely out of curiosity. I have had a nitecore leave me with no working charger and now even though I always have a backup, xtar hasn’t failed yet.
I use this charger while at work aswell and one day I broke the USB port and went home that night cut a usb cord and soldered it straight to the board. It's still going strong.

I have a Nitecore i4 and I bought a i2 thinking I would use it for travel purposes
Both have been working flawlessly for about 6 and 5 years.
My only gripe is the i2 makes a very slight buzzing sound. Drives me mad when in a hotel room and it’s nearby, so I now take the i4 on trips.
Am keen to get another charger, I like that Xtar VC4

Yip, mine also plays a tune when charging. The tone changes as the display scrolls through the different screens. Useful as I can not forget unplugging the charger at night, it is a really irritating sound. Safety feature rather than a flaw. Lol.

And if I’m conscious of it while trying to fall asleep when traveling then it drives me nuts
Again different experiences i had a very early I2 which i had for 4 years before passing it on to my son when he started vaping, he's still using it with no problems it must be 7 years old now!

I have the SC4 in daily use from the time it was released, it charges up my batteries really fast has a great display , however it won’t take my 21700 batteries... for that I use the i4 ... I’ve had some bad experiences with nitecore in the past , 2 D4 chargers blew and that being said it was 3 months after purchase ... the 2nd D4 blew around 6 months ... at the time I never really kept receipts , that meant purchasing new chargers ... when I heard about the SC4 charger ... I went out and purchased one , and all I can’t tell you is ... it’s been a pleasure to have , the batteries charge up super quickly without getting hot , and they last long like they would on a slow charge , I have this charger from 2018 and it’s never skipped a beat on me .

I just remembered, I have a old Efest Soda - this one below - that I've had since I started vaping in 2016. Was my very first charger I bought and it's still going strong day in and day out. I've had to oil the spring mechanism once or twice, but otherwise, no issues. Reason I forgot about it is because it's at the office and with lockdown having me work from home I didn't think of it (out of sight, out of mind). Charges super fast, hence being used at the office as one does not always have time to wait for a long charge, and it's almost 5yrs old now and still going strong. But I cannot help but wonder if it's like SMOK, where you have one good one among a bunch of others which are okay, but there are other brands that are better.
I believe you will find duds amongst all brands. It's the percentage of duds versus good ones that matters.

I agree, I also think tech plays a part . My i2 is the older one with just the three lights, newer ones have the LCD screen. Maybe more to go wrong ?
I've ever tried this VC8. XTAR's charger is good at charging li-ion battery. I only have 2pcs 21700 and one 18650. So I didn't buy it. I have a PB2S in red color.
220V AC. Always.
Always 220v I never try the 12v out ... don’t think I ever would.
Just my 2c from my experience, 2x 2bay chargers are better than 1x 4bay charger, for 2 reasons, if one breaks you still have 2 bays and two, you can get the batteries out of a 2 bay charger a lot easier and safer from a 2 bay than a 4 bay.
So after publicly mouthing off how well my Nitecore charger has been performing for over four years, guess what! The noise got louder and it keeps resetting after "reading" the cells. But still, it did perform well and will buy one again. Luckily as @Dooky remarked above, I have two double bay chargers so I will be alright till end of lockdown.

Anyone have one of those 8 bay chargers? Just curious about them. Too much for me, but interested about experience in using them.

It seems to fairly easily show me which batteries need replacing.
My old D4 says all the batteries are all fully charged at 4.2
This one shows them full at lower V. Which I assume means they don't hold full capacity anymore.
The batteries on the right are about 15 months old and were daily use batteries, and only last half a day now.
Batteries on the left were sealed until a week or so ago so are new from a cycle perspective.

Mine has not died, but I have used my i2 frequently on 12V when camping. Using a 12v adapter and not through an inverter. Works just the same as 220v. No real difference in charging time.

I have a Nitecore I8. Have not had any issues with it yet. I've been using it for close to 2 years now.
I also have a Nitecore i2 at work (no issues - 4+ Years) and a 4 bay Efest (mainly use for travel as it has the 12v adapter - No issues - 6+ Years)
I've had a Nitecore D2 and an Omnidock die on me before.
