Hi everyone,

Need some advice basically need to know the best way to maintain the L plate in the athena? My one has some ware and tear from use and iv gotten used to sort of filing the actual connection on the top the part that the fire button presses to touch the bottom of the 510 connector. Filing it cant be the only way to keep it firing when pressed is it?

Hi. You need to take a softer gritt sand paper o' kind of polish it so that the plate don't have any rough spots that create arc zones...
If I am understanding you correctly. A nail file should work if you don't have sand paper( 220gritt up if you have)

Also put a small amount of vaseline on the contact points.just a smeer if you don't have thermal paste stuff.
It's an old trick we used on car points before electronic ignition.

Hi everyone,

I bought the athena sqounk as my intro to mech sqounks but to be honest the constant upkeep of the L plate which is what's used to complete the circuit is becoming a bit of a nightmare I'll be driving and vaping and then out of the blue the mod will refuse to fire and in some cases iv stopped on the side of the road to wipe down the the L plate and get the mod firing again. But to be honest its getting to prove to be a tiring excercis I can honestly see now why people that iv spoken to who own the same mod have eventually just benched the mod. The maintenance is just too much.

Try a little(smear) of grease or Vaseline on the points that touches,if it's arching.
If it's juice leaking then I don't have an answer.

contact has to be pointed bro. Of it's flat then it will always arc.
Fig1 will always arc
Fig2 will also arc but much less

Mine is more fig 1 its arcing but not all the time the part that actually touches the 510 connector is flat

Try to bend it like fig 2.
Or change the l strip to a better quality metal.maybe the original L plate is of poor quality and will arc which ever way you use it.
Edit .you might need to cut it shorter

No don't round it. It has to have a point that makes the contact.
The 510 is round and the L can be square but as long as it's formed like fig 2. Or the reference pic I sent you

thats exactly as per the video I linked above. did the same to mind and works much better.

You got two options. The one @Hakhan suggested which will work or the one I suggested in the pic .
I would take out that plate and instead of forming it to fit around the 510 I would first flatten it and then bend it over like I drew on the pic. Either way would work but if you check electrical contacts on switches and things like relays you'll notice it has a point to make contact and reduce electrical arc. Hence my way of thinking. You decide.
