A post here by @Genosmate reminded me of this one...

Young Van gets invited by his Italian girlfriend to dinner at her house to meet the parents. In order to make a good impression, he dons his best suit (tie hat etc) and toddles off to her house.

While sitting around the table in an awkward silence, the dad takes in the suit and asks "mafia?"

Startled by the gruff, one word question, Van squeaks out a reply "need oom, ek vinger haar net."
