Insurance help needed

I recently had a geyser burst in my house and all my vape gear ended up floating around. All my mods were soaked and all the batteries were exposed to water.

I want to claim from the insurance but they require a report to say the devices were damaged. Any electrician I have tried so far does not want to touch it and I've asked a couple of vape shops just to confirm that the devices and batteries would not be safe to use again. No luck however.

Has anyone had this issue or does anyone have some advice perhaps?

A reputable vape shop with a knowledgeable owner/ manager should be able to give you such a letter once they've I corrected the mods and batteries themselves. You'd probably have to go to one of the larger cities with all your gear as no one would give a report without inspecting the gear first

Thanks @Stillwaters , the local vapeshops all seemed very skittish and basically did not want anything to do with it. I'll take your advice and go to some shops in the larger Cape Town area, hopefully someone will be able to help.

What are all of your vape gear doing on the floor

A collapsed ceiling above my vape station at home ensured that all my things got flooded. Along with practically everything else in the house. Take care of your high pressure geysers people, that's all I can say.

What's needed from them is called a damage report. Once they've inspected your equipment they would need to say that, in their opinion, the mods are not economical to repair (if that's their opinion) as obtaining spares from overseas would cost too much or that the mods cannot be repaired. Their comment regarding batteries would be that batteries cannot be considered safe once immersed in water. The insurance company is entitled to the damaged equipment so keep it available. Hope this helps and gets you replacement gear
