I guess I use couriers quite a lot and I thought I would post my top choices here because I need to rant a bit because my word there are some crap courier services around!

Let's start with the best local and international couriers...

Best Local Courier - The Courier Guy. Have had outstanding service from them both inbound and outbound!

Best International Courier - FedEx by a country mile. They are responsive and reactive. They contact you the moment any interaction or payment is needed. They follow up all the time and their online tracking works like a dream.

DHL are as annoying as hell... you have to track your shipment online and phone them multiple times all the way along the exercise... send invoices when it's stuck in customs (they don't phone you) phone them when you know you need to pay Vat etc (they don't phone you) and then thier online payment system doesn't work and when you phone them they say yes they are having issues and then you do a bank transfer and send a POP...

As for SA Post Office for international deliveries... just useless... so very very useless... it takes ten times as long to get parcels out of the JHB system than it does shipping from anywhere on the planet!

Have to agree on DHL Rob. I've been shocked at how inept they are with the last couple of packages I've received. I'm not sure why they have such a great reputation - I feel like I'm working for DHL when I'm trying to get something through their process. Although everything seems to run very smoothly until it lands in SA, so maybe it's just DHL SA which is so slack.

I have found DHL FANTASTIC for Amazon, but, everything else, yes, FedEx BY FAR the best!

I must agree, The Courier Guy is fantastic.

I think I've had my worst experience, thus far, with UPS. They made a mistake with the cost of the package (stating it at 100 x its value with customs) and, once informed of the error, wanted me to pay the increased customs fee saying that they'd 'pay me back the difference'. They wouldn't deliver the parcel until this was done. Obviously I refused and so began a month long fight with UPS customer service. Eventually they delivered the package and, after I demanded a refund for the delivery, agreed to that too.

The other day I got a call asking me for my POP as they couldn't find it
