most of the shops are stocking up cause the tax only applies to product manufactured after June 1st.If this tax is happening at supplier level, why have vape shops stocked up on juice but will be charging taxed prices from the 1st?
I understand stocking up before the tax, and I have received numerous emails and msgs that they are doing exactly that, but a few weeks later every vape shop I use in my area has posted reminders to buy now, prices going up on the 1stmost of the shops are stocking up cause the tax only applies to product manufactured after June 1st.
but possibly some will just put the prices up I'm sure.
DefinitelySome unscrupulous shop owners will use the opportunity to overcharge customers from the 1st June
ja thats just k@k.I understand stocking up before the tax, and I have received numerous emails and msgs that they are doing exactly that, but a few weeks later every vape shop I use in my area has posted reminders to buy now, prices going up on the 1st
Been driving me bananas too and sounds very opportunistic on their part…Must just say it’s impossible for any store to be in possession of stock where the duty has been imposed and paid by the 01 June as u correctly pointed out that it is only levied on products manufactured/imported post 1 June. I honestly feel that stores that increase prices on the 1st should be boycotted and shamed. I am really hoping that the “one shot” is explored further by manufacturers as this will help both us and them…..I understand stocking up before the tax, and I have received numerous emails and msgs that they are doing exactly that, but a few weeks later every vape shop I use in my area has posted reminders to buy now, prices going up on the 1st
From what I have heard from who I have chatted to this is probably the route they will go.I am really hoping that the “one shot” is explored further by manufacturers as this will help both us and them…..
I also think we should name and shame, definitely boycott themBeen driving me bananas too and sounds very opportunistic on their part…Must just say it’s impossible for any store to be in possession of stock where the duty has been imposed and paid by the 01 June as u correctly pointed out that it is only levied on products manufactured/imported post 1 June. unfortunately I think you are right. So many people will have no choice but to quit vaping due to the cost and go back to smoking and probably go onto the illegal cigarettes cause they are so cheap! From the 1 June this may well be the case!
I find it truly amazing and unbelievable how this ruling government can continuously outdo themselves on a daily basis with their stupidity!New laws for schools leave South Africans divided
