Ok so im sure you guys know about the stove too coil. I decided to build a dual stovetop but with a "TWIST" :)

Im sure the coil masters will appreciate it.

That is a creation of immense beauty. Awesome coils. I now have coil envy big time.

I just built a parallel coil on my kayfun. 28 gauge kanthal, 6wraps, 0.8ohms, u Def need a vtc4 do get maximum efficiency, we so excited I forgot to take pics. Erupts the vapor when u fire.... Great flavour... Great vapor and a Lekka throat hit!

Gorgeous! What ohms did it come out to?

Ok guys, you all know I want to build a coil. Ok I tried.

Wached a couple of YouTube vid's,
managed to get It nice and neat, and tight
Measured the oms on my MVP. 0.7 (don't know if this is right or not)
Pressed the fire button, in short pulses
Coils light up nicely form the inside.

and pop :wondering:

What am I doing wrong

I used 26g Kenthal around the smallest alen key I could find

congats on your 1st coils, dual coils i might add.

what exaclty goes pop? does one of the legs burn off?

Jip, I build 2 and both had a leg go pop and then I build another 2 and the one's leg went and the other one poped in the middle of the coil.

Congrats @annemarievdh -
Mighty impressed - dual coil for your first build - and sub-ohm nogal!

Can't really tell why its popping - what happens then?

I once had a coil pop on one of the legs after building.
Not sure why it happened. Maybe I didnt tighten the screws enough but not sure if that had anything to do with it.
I just rebuilt it and it worked fine
It could be that the piece of wire was a bit faulty or weak...

Never had it again though

Well done @annemarievdh !

Kinks in the Kathal wire that weakens it and they will pop, get some piece without any kinks in them.

Do you have 28g wire?
Maybe give that a try

Think you need to squeeze the coils a bit. Directly after pulsing a bit, squeeze together with sharp nosed pliers and hold for a 20 count, be gentle. Once you have done both, pulse again. Then take allen key and push it into the coil and move it like you are playing snooker. Remove allen key. Try firing then. If that does not help, there is something wrong with the wire or the screws are not tight enough. Maybe try one or two more wraps on the coils.

Thank you I will do that. I just need more kental :giggle:. Only got a little bit with the atty

that could be your problem right there actually, you dont know the grade of the kanthal you got with a CLONE dripper (i asume its a clone like most of us use) - i never use the kanthal i get with....

i suggest get some new kanthal and do exactly what you did before, im am am willing to bet that it will work perfectly :)

**jy het net n bietjie kak draad gehad :p

haha thank you, i used the lats little bit of it for one 7 wrap coil, came out 1.8

the vapor production's not grate, but it will do until tonight

This, and remember to pulse the fire button for a split second, gently squeeze the coil, very quick pulse- squeeze, pulse-squeeze, pulse-squeeze.. until the coil heats up from the centre. This helps to ensure you eliminate any hot spots with a new coil.

Sup guys

I koeksuster twisted 3 strands of 32G kanthal.
Then I did 4/5 wraps of my creation on a 2mm drill. And this is the results
6u2asuje.jpg

Put it on a toothpick to have some contrast

View from the top coming to an admirable 0.74Ohm

View from the side to make sure shes as pretty from the side as from the top....:p

Ok, but does she shine?

Nice Peter........next time use a cordless drill with a paper clip/allen key and a pliers and turn it till it breaks off at one end. Will give you nice tight coils...

The dril would not work in this case as the strands were not twisted, they were braided like a french ponytail.
@ silver. The vape is thick throat hitting plumes full of flavour. I think becuase its braided its similar to ribbon as the end result is more of a flater wire than a round wire...

Ok thanks @PeterHarris

I think we have to call it Peter Harris' koeksister coil.

On that note we now have a few coil pioneers on this forum ;-)

The @vaalboy para-coil

The @BumbleBee slinky coil

And now the @PeterHarris koeksister coil

Have i left any out?
