Tips for using the Classifieds

  • PLEASE NOTE - The classifieds are for personal use only. Not for dealing or anything commercially related. Don't come on here to sell items you bought for the purposes of resale. If you want to do that you should apply to become a supporting vendor on the forum and promote your stock in your own dedicated subforum.

  • Make sure you include all the required info - the more detail, the better your chances of a sale.

  • Try use a normal browser to construct your adverts, not Tapatalk - that way you will get a template of the info required put in your post.

  • Use good pictures - buyers want to see good quality pics of the items you are selling. If you can't see the item properly in the advert, you probably are going to skip it.

  • Instead of a boring bump rather add another great photo of the item you are selling. Maybe a close up photo or one from a different angle. More interesting for potential buyers and can only serve to improve your chances of a sale.

  • If your item doesnt sell - don't bump it forever. Consider dropping your price, adding further info or more detailed photos.

  • Be explicit with any defects - describe them fully. Never nice for a buyer to receive an item and discover a defect that wasn't disclosed upfront.

  • Batteries - the rules require photos and full specs of the battery on offer. We take battery safety on the forum seriously and we try hard to make sure folk are not selling vape gear with old, unsuitable or dangerous batteries. Be responsible.

  • Keep it clean - when selling an item, please try give it a clean before sending. If you don't have time, alert the buyer that it wont be cleaned beforehand. Don't advertise a beautiful shiny clean device and then send something totally different. Most buyers will be less inclined to buy from you again.

:) Good luck with the sales! :)

Hi all

I've created this thread and its going to be a sticky in the Classifieds For Sale subforum.

Hopefully it will help newer users of the Classifieds on how to use them better.

If you have any great tips you would like to contribute to other members, feel free to add them below and we can consider updating the list in the first post. This is just a start. So let's see how it goes. If you would like to suggest changes to any of the above, also feel free to post here.

Hope this will help

Dont know if its allowed here, but what about some classifieds manners?
I see people that is not interested in buying stuff rate the advertisers post as optimistic if they think the price is to high. Why? Everyone can sell at what price they want, why mess up people's adds?
Some even comment on the add, asking what it cost new or stating you can buy it here and there for that price. Why? If you really want to help the guy, pm him.
And the others just plain derail adds by talking all kinds of rubbish, thats got nothing to do with the sale and they obviously are not even interested in buying. Why?

Hi @Jean claude Vaaldamme , thanks for your comments and you are right

However what you are talking about is not really a tip to help sellers, but rather behaviour on the classifieds by other members.

The Classifieds rules clearly state the following:
"3. Keep your posts in these Classifieds threads on topic. No commenting on price/quality, the offers from others or such."

What this means is that we do not want members to comment about price unless they are interested in buying and making an offer. That is why they are rather encouraged to use the "Optimistic" rating. It also can help the potential seller. We would not like comments in the thread unless the buyer is interested in buying the item or is asking questions about the item to get further clarity.

Posts that are off-topic or derailing a seller's thread is not allowed. Obviously, we can't watch these threads all the time, so if you see such comments or derailing going on, feel free to PM one of the Admin & mod team or report the post using the "Report" button below the post.

If everyone understands the principles of what we are trying to do then it should lead to a better Classifieds experience for all.

Great tips, especially agree with the photo instead of bump. Something new to look at rather than to reclick on an old ad just to see a bump.

Hmmm, what about adding that it's both polite and in the interest of the buyer and the seller to sell products in a clean and respectful condition? You know, for hygienic reasons. No use buying yourself herpes for a bargain :)

Thanks @Spyro - will add that when I get a chance

Bumping this thread for the benefit of those that haven't seen it yet

Good luck with the sales

I just wanted to get an idea here regarding the re-selling of open / used e-juices? Is it frown upon within the community? Is there a concern regarding contamination?

I see that there have been only a few ejuice sales, but not many.

I recently bought a bunch of e-juices and some of them I don't really enjoy that much, either the flavour is not there, or it is just not my cup of tea. So instead of not using it and keeping it forever or throwing it away? Is one allowed to resell an opened bottle of e-juice on here? Is there a time limit to sell? Or is this considered taboo to sell opened juices?

Wasn't sure where to post this? Or if I should have created a post in off topic.

Hi @DysectorZA

No problem posting used juices for sale in the Classifieds. It does happen often.
Just read the classifieds rules and make sure you have all the required info and pics.

In the case of juice, make sure you clearly state the volume remaining, the age of the juice and the nic strength.

It would help if you also explain how it was stored.

Just want to point out an example of a good for sale ad

Have a look here at this one from @CaliGuy today:
https://www.ecigssa.co.za/coppervape-skyline-rta.t63253/
  • All the required info
  • Carefully pointing out the defects. In this case, scratches and a missing driptip. (This is important because it shows you are a serious seller and that you are honest about what you are selling.)
  • And good clear photos
If you do your ads like this, you have a much better chance of making a sale.

Hi all

Just bumping this thread for the benefit of newer folk who may not have seen it.

Have a read. It will likely help make your Classifieds Experience here better and more successful

Happy Friday to all

Something to make life/a sale easier is to post the name of items/you want to sell as the heading and not generic headings like "some goodies for sale", "vape clearout", etc.

It grinds my ass to go to "clearance sale" post only to find that the items on offer are irrelevant to me, ie cotton or coils, etc.

By using accurate headings, you are more likely to attract more interested buyers...

Good morning, some how I can't find the classifieds where I can post a for sale item

Bumping this for the benefit of newer members

Have a look

These are tips that can help you get a better outcome using the Classifieds.

Tip for now : instead of a boring "bump" on your ad, take another good photo of the item for sale - maybe from a different angle - and add it to your bump post.

Reminder to those using the Classifieds

instead of a “boring” bump, why not post a new photo of the device for sale - maybe from a different angle

why?
it’s more interesting to the potential buyer and adds value

Rules for classifieds is closed so posting here.

Can a rule be added that sellers must clean their products before sending them out? Even if it's just cleaned to a reasonable degree. Just had a nasty experience with a tank that was utterly filthy. So bad that I just cleaned it and sold it straight away.

That is just bad manners! How people ship dirty goods is beyond me!

I had a similar experience recently. It's just gross. I don't want to bad mouth the seller but I will think twice about dealing with that person again.

When I sell an item, I do my utmost best to clean up everything and I hope that people I buy from do the same.
