Hey everyone
So it's a friends birthday coming up and I'm thinking of getting him an upgrade to some of his gear .

I recently got him of the stinkies and onto vaping with a d16 battery and a k1 atty.

I have some gear that I no longer use and was contemplating selling that I'm now thinking of giving him.

I have the vamo v5 mod with a spare 18650 battery.

RDA - omega dripper (I started with this but find the posts not too accommodating, especially for dual coil using 28 kanthal)

RTA - the cloud (big dripper v2)

So I was wondering if I should pass this down to him or get him an istick.

I was planning on getting him something for his car so that was the main gift.

Considering the 15w Limitations and the minimum 1ohm coil resistance do you think this would be a good option to start getting into rebuildables?

I've recently been spoiled by the istick, the clouper mini and a mech mod so I'm wondering if it's not going to be too low powered

Dude rather give him your old gear first, you dont want to drop the poor dude into the deep end.. That way if he does have issues you can be a guiding light if you will. Drop anyone into unfamiliar territory and thats a guaranteed one way ticket back to analogues

He's taking a big interest in some of my upgrades and he sits and watches me building coils so understands what's going on.

He's interested in the hammer mech mod but more for the look than anything else. I was thinking of getting him the mech mod but then he has no option of using an rba or rta.

He's a mech at Mercedes so he prefers filling a tank in the morning and then vaping in between fixing cars

Ok then walk him through a build, Kanthal is relatively cheap.. Sit him down and let him build his own coils and then test them on an Ohm reader.. Let him do it over and over again so he understands what it is that he is doing..

Maybe the Veterans can elaborate more on this as i too am rather new and dont know all the ins and outs

Consider gifting him the Vamo with a Mini Aspire Nautilus (with some coils) and the Omega. Best of both worlds and the opportunity to ease into RBAs.

Just take him carefully through the paces in coil building. Explaining how everything works and of course battery safety.
I went from cig-a-likes straight to kayfun with a nemesis mod. Watched some youtube vids on coil building and I was on my way. This was within a month.
It shouldn't be too difficult for him as he already watched you building coils. You just need to get him through the finer details. He'll be ok.
If he's a Merc mech, then it should come to him very quickly.

I've gone and made a mini tool box for him.

Nail clipper
Pliers
Side cutters
Tweezers
Kanthal
Cotton
Dripper tube
Scissors
3x 5ml bottles

He has a multi meter so he's sorted.

Does anyone have one of those single 18650 chargers they looking to sell?

for my birthday, my friends gave me a Please Call Me.....are you looking for new friends, i can submit my CV lol

Lol @king I have this thing about 5c coins...hate them, so my mates thought that it would be brilliant to give me R50 in 5c coins..yip...1000 5c coins.

So back to @shaunnadan, @Rotten_Bunny and @zadiac are right, maybe pass down the gear let him have a go at it. If he digs it then at least you have tons of birthday present choices next year :)

ive made some pre-wrapped coils and kept that in a small box for his kit. about 10x1.5ohm and 1ohm coils so he can always pop one of those in and use that if hes having a problem with the wrapping.
