what an experience!
my Vapecon weekend started on Friday which was build day. I arrived bright and early to find @Rob Fisher and @Silver there and after a jovial 5min greeting it was time to get to work! Our head quarters were assembled and we had a base for our operations.
@Stosta @Alex @Kuhlkatz @Rowan Francis arrived shortly after and it was go time! We had to get everything prepared before the vendors swarmed into the hall to setup their stands. Systematically we ticked things off our checklists while finding time to scoff down some boerie rolls in-between.
TEAM WORK is what got us through and once it was all setup we left to get some beauty sleep for the MAGIC that we knew was about to be unleashed the next morning.
I arrived in darkness.... but found a buzz at the gates. Upon further investigation, I found a winding line was forming and everyone was in good spirits. it was incredible to see how many people had sacrificed their mornings to be there.
The A&M team all took to their places and we all put on the finishing touches before the gates were opened.
There was a cheer that echoed through the hall as @Rob Fisher announced that VAPECON IS OPEN!!!
Streams of people dashed through the doors, making their way to the various stands and we knew that the next 10 hours was nothing short of EPIC
Between the ECIGSSA Vapecon Stand and the main entrance, it was great to put names to faces of our fellow forumites and I lost track of how many warm handshakes and hugs were passed around. The atmosphere was electric!
Almost like a choreographed dance our schedule was followed starting with the Nick Blaze Rap performance by @Nicholas. It was incredible seeing the reactions from all of the attendees and the live performance was very well accepted.
@method1 and International DIY Star Wayne Walker took to the stage for the DIY talk and in addition to the questions put together on the forum, members were able to have a brief Q&A session with Wayne Walker - No doubt there are many DIY creations to look forward to following VapeCon.
The Cloud Chasing Competition Prelims followed and @Quakes helped to keep the judging fair and the flow going.
International Guest Johnny from VGOD graced our stage and offered a remarkable demonstration of his trick routine, with an impromptu Q&A session which was very refreshing and jovial. @Yusuf Cape Vaper, while Johnny was unable to accept a sponsor from Vape Empire @shaunnadan, is always there for you
The Trick Competition was great and it's incredible what our local talent has to offer! the guys did their best with what they had considering the airflow taking into account the Health and Safety aspect especially with the high number of occupants we had in a single hall. @SAVaper alongside Johnny from VGOD helped with judging the event.
The Cloud Competition Finals were fierce ! all of the contestants brought their A games. @Dietz @Tashy helped to judge the finals with huge support from the crowds.
What seemed like only minutes had passed since the gates opened @Rowan Francis (who was sporting a kilt!) and I got a break to get some food and was thoroughly impressed by the vibe of the event and how happy people were. NOWHERE ELSE will you find an event with so many smiling faces
The prize giving session was brilliant with @Rob Fisher holding us all on the edges of ours seats to find out who the Competition winners were.
Overall the event was a huge success and I feel privileged to be a part of the INCREDIBLE DREAM TEAM that put it all together.

It was such an honour and privilege to be given the opportunity to assist @shaunnadan and @Rowan Francis at the judges table with Johnny there.

Just wanted to say a few things after the dust has settled a bit and it's still fresh in the mind.
Firstly, I would like to congratulate everyone that was involved in VapeCon 2017. Thank you for taking part and for making it the special event that many of us enjoyed. VapeCon is not about size or being boastful. It's about quality and spirit. And I am very happy to report that I saw epic spirit indeed - in so many ways.
What made VapeCon special was the smiles on many faces and the camaraderie between vapers. It was a coming together on so many levels. A super day, charged with lots of excitement and fun. So thank you again to all of you wonderful folk that were there and played your role in making it mega epic!

- The participants and winners of all the competitions - these competitions were a major feature on the day. From Cloud Blowing to Tricks, DIY to Vendor Juice Shootout - you all kept us enthralled. Wait till you see the photos Thanks to all of you for your efforts and good spirit on the day!
- The team from Heartfelt Arena - to Marilie, Thebe, Ruben and co. - you guys are legends. Thank you for all the hard work in the months leading up to this event. We could not have done it half as good without your help and enthusiasm along the way!
- Our own dream team - the ECIGSSA Admin & Mod team - who helped with so many things to make VapeCon great. @Alex, @Kuhlkatz , @Rowan Francis , @Stosta (coming up from Dbn) - you guys are rock solid. @shaunnadan - thank you for all you have done for us with the comps, prizes and making sure the schedule ran smoothly on the day! @Stroodlepuff - thank you for all your help and tireless efforts in the run up to the event. Sorry guys, been delayed - there was so much footage and so many photos that its taken us a while to get through. But we have been working very hard on this. Also has not helped that some of us have been busy on numerous other things too, catching up after VapeCon. (Myself included)
