Good day,

Email sent.

Sounds fun. I have nothing to loose to enter.

Not very keen on having my secret recipe shared though...

Shouldn't this be done as a flavour shot and mixed and vaped on the day as per new commercial process to really test the DIY community? There are new challenges to that without steep time that would have made this much more interesting to really test the DIY community vs the new age commercial brands! Can't just rely on their old favourite concentrates but have to find new ones and combinations that work with this process.

Not a bad idea, but I think it would have to be a category on its own. The same goes for MTL/Nic Salts.
As for concentrates, finding "new ones" is not really an option, unless you know something I don't. We have to rely on what is available on the market. It is really just up to the mixer's creativity.

There are concentrates on the market to use - but honestly takes a loads of work. Even working on desserts for release if we so decide to that don't require any steeping, shake and vape. But as a mainly fruit developer who delves into desserts there are loads that can be used - even ways to make a custard that can be shake and vaped. It just requires loads of work understanding which flavour houses and then concentrates in those work. But readily available options for that in SA already. Tobaccos I'd be unsure as I know that's not my strength area.

I want DIY experts (I believe our DIY community in SA is the best in the world) to eventually be able to take their products to market if they so please but then they need to be working on products that fit the current flavour shot model. From store experience guys mix a juice and fill their pod or tank in store right away.

Again just a view point on this. I have many recipes that I will make only for myself ever again as they need steeping time - so would be a good challenge to see how good the DIY community really is in SA with a test at this level (although would need more time now than 2 weeks to figure this out I'm sure). Just a future note.

I hear you, and I respect the hustle to make shake-and-vape desserts, but let’s keep it real—instant gratification can’t beat the slow grind. If you’re after a quick fix, sure, grab a one-shot, shake it up, and hit it right there in the shop. But if you want something that truly delivers, you’ve got to let it steep. Good things take time, and that’s where the magic happens.

This rush for instant results is part of why disposables are taking over—they’re all about convenience, not quality. Our DIY community in SA is world-class because we take the time to craft something exceptional, not just quick and easy. I get it, the market’s shifting, but let’s not forget what sets us apart. Sometimes, patience is the key to greatness, and that’s a lesson worth keeping in mind.

Craig is bringing up some valid points as is Old Goat, for me i was luck enough to do a shake and vape entry every year so far.
This year i will even go more left field then normal. I am also entrying a profile i think has not done before succesfully and i think i came 99% close.
I have also used a flavour house that is not commonly used and want to see if i can make it shine as it will be revieled.

Secondly this is to the organizers and i hope this will be read. Will the public be involved in the voting like you did the first Vapecon i have attended.
The juices will be available for testing in a disposable atty and voting for public will be open. We can even reviel the profile as not too many vapers is good at guessing what profiles are. Just food for thought....

I have sent an email and a message on the website to enter the DIY Shoot Out, but I have not heard back yet. I'm getting worried that I will not be taking part this year. I have my juice ready to go and I am amped for this.
I hate being left in the dark, am I in or not?

@Old_Goat - Your entry has been added, apologies, we seem to have somehow missed the post and your mail went to spam.

@Deemo - We changed the way the judging works due to complaints in previous years, in both liquid competitions (DIY and Vendor) people sent complaints that judging was unfair due to friends/family voting and people offering things in exchange for votes after figuring out which number was their liquid, this is why voting is done in private now by an expert panel of industry veterans, they also dont know who makes which liquid they only know a number for the vendors competition and this is why we encourage a name on the DIY competition. The panel consists of 6 judges with varying flavor preferences and the organizers are not present when voting is done to ensure voting is fair.

@CraigMooch for now we are sticking to the current formula, those are some good points which we can maybe look at however for now the formula stays the same

@VapeCon Thanks for getting back to us.

I am pumped now. Can't wait to see what you guys think of my juice.

How should we label our bottles?
Just the name of the flavour? The Name, total flavour percentage and nicotine amount? Or should it have the recipe on it?

Just the name of the flavour and a basic profile, you can give the recipe to us privately, you can of course include all details on the label if you would like however
