Hey guys
So I have been vaping for the couple of months . Purchased used and abused a couple of devices now . Currently I'm stuck on the sxk billet box and DNA 40 billet box . I'm very much into my tabacco vapes at the moment

So last week I traveled to Durban and I noticed that my vape had a muted taste . Obviously I changed my wicks and so on but never managed to get the flavor right

Once back In jhb my flavor went back to normal with exactly the same build . Either way I felt it was just in my head

This week I'm in Mauritius and once again the same thing . Flavor is muted again . I have also tried a couple of my drippers and can most certainly say the flavor feels muted compared to being at a higher altitude

Had anyone had any experience with this

I postulate that your experience being inverse to expectation is the result of the relative humidity of both locations being much higher than your normal inland location. More humidity, less room for flavor.

My 2c...

If that was the cause, wouldn't there also be a difference in flavour between summer and winter in the same location?

Cant seem to find a full copy of this study without having to pay for it, but I did find this : http://theconversation.com/airplane-food-tastes-strange-and-heres-why-5972

Looks like I now have a theory on my hands. Speaking under correction, and not having read the above attachments, I believe to have heard that airplanes are pressurized to assimilate life at 8000 feet (Or was that meters?). This does something to the perception of taste and apparently explains why early morning flights smell like well used dumpsters.

In terms of humidity differences between summer and winter, I do believe they do occur and are in fact noticed. In summer i go off my Peanut Butter and Banana ADV. Can't stand it sometimes. I then go in search of a fruity vape for which I still need to get a DIY ADV. Something melony... I love Melons... but i digress. I have also noticed that what we call humidity in Cape Town and what our friends from Durban call normal are two completely different things.

Would be interesting to hear other peoples experiences between summer and winter juice preferences.

Regards

Interesting theory, @Raindance. I can't say I've noticed any difference in juices between summer and winter. I don't have summer and winter juices, I vape bakeries and desserts year round. While Joburg probably never gets as humid as Durban, it's fair to say it's a lot drier in winter than summer. While I feel it on my skin, I can't say I've noticed any difference in my juice.

Here's a bit of a twist/curveball: what's the ambient temperature like when you notice these flavour differences? I'm thinking more in lines of juice viscosity than altitude making any difference whatsoever. Any perceivable difference, I should say.

I live costal, no issues with flavour. I agree with the above regarding muted/off taste after a flight, takes me about a day to regain the flavour i expect

Peace
