Hi,

So my wife dropped one of her Gen's last night and without her knowing this loosened the magnets on the inside of the battery door/latch (still nursing first cup of coffee so cannot think what it's called now). So when she opened it this morning she did not realise this until she tried to close it again after changing batteries and now the magnet is gone and the door won't close. She did mention she saw our baby cat playing with something but did not realise what it was, but we believe we know now...

So, does anyone have a Gen that's not working anymore (taking a fat chance here, I know) that we may strip for parts (willing to buy from you)? Else, which other mods may have similar magnets and does anyone have one that's not working?

Hi @ivc_mixer. Was just checking mine. The magnets are in the mod. On the door they are bits of metal that is attracted to a magnet. So a strip of any metal (Mild Steel etc.) that is attracted to the magnet in the mod will work in the door.
Just check on your wifes one.

Neodymium magnets?

I got couple small ones lying around somewhere from a project that never happened. Can have them once I find them.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for. But if it can work you can have it. About 50 3x1 magnets.

Thanks, but the Gen magnets are more rectangular.

My vaporesso also took a tumble and my magnet popped out. I still have it... But what's the best way to secure it in there. I'd imagine superglue on a mod isn't a great idea :confundio1:

Mine was so tight I just pushed the replacement magnets back in with no adhesive.

The magnets are mounted in the mod itself, and the "door" or cover on the Gen / S / X has what seem to be chrome plated mild steel inserts glued into place.
I have in the past cut slivers of mild steel sheet steel and glued them into place with super glue, and then painted over them with quick drying black modeling enamel.

Thank you. Mine is good for a few battery changes and then decides to try run away again, haha.

but we believe we know now...

So, does anyone

For an horrible moment there i thought you were going to ask for a volunteer to go on cat toilet watch!:monoloco:

If you glue a new magnet in position make sure you don't have it repelling before applying glue, easily done gluing a magnet in position the wrong way round (not like i have ever done it, :lipssealed:)!
