Vuse ePOD 2 - old pod liquid leaked into heating element

Good morning,

I want to know if there's any way I could fix this problem, I have a Vuse EPOD 2 that was not in use for about a year and there was an eliquid pod kept in it all this while that leaked into the heating element, now I have charged the device after the year and put in a new pod, it is now tasting really bad with the new pod as the old eliquid might of expired and residue/leakage is on the heating element(under where the pod goes).

Is there any way to safely clean this to restore the good taste with a new pod?

Clean it with alcohol, which will remove any residue. One can get alcohol pads at any Clicks/Dischem/Pharmacy/Takealot. I use them all the time for my mods and pods, to wipe away condensation and also to wipe off the driptips.
