Weird Wicking

Has anyone tried the method of wicking? Watch from 6:05

That's weird. I have external wrapped vertical coils before but nothing like that.

I guess it would work if you have airflow that hits the side of your coil, but you’re greatly reducing the contact surface area between your cotton and coil, so I’m not sure if it would yield better results in terms of flavor vs the normal wicking method.

Done that before in a RTA and RDA,but I mostly let the cotton lay over the coil.
The reason for that is when the coil gets too hot it starts melting.
