You can't do it properly by hand,if compared to a drill spinning the wire around the center for you.the inside wire, and wrapped continuously with whatever gague you wrap the outer with and your one hand will not be able to hold that while the other is spinning a softer wire around the single wire, or pair around it. It gets stabilised by a drill - then the othe wire is spun with the drill
LOL...sorry using a drill is handmade to me, but I understand what you saying.
If you clapton a #32 on a #32 core you need to use a high tensile guitar string because #32 kanthal is too soft and snaps under tension.
So once finished you slide the guitar string out and slip a #32 kanthal gently down the #32 tube...Tadaa!
Sounds like a good idea @blyjeenz. But does the 32g wire fit when you pull the guitar string out?

umm yes otherwise a rather pointless exercise.
#32 kanthal = 0.202mm
E 1st string = 0.25mm

I have, NOT recomended.
Just getting the wick in was a nightmare. The wrap gets too hot, too fast and leaves a burnt taste. Even if you drop the wattage.
Terrible coil for vaping.
The first 2 coils are great. Perfect for a single coil RTA like my Eclipse, if you like vaping with high wattage. I get around 0.11 to 0.13 ohms out of them and vape at around 60 - 65 Watts.

Yeah depending on wicking and applied power the aliens always deliver on flavour and that crackle

@DuaneV and @Old_Goat may I ask where you guys are buying wire from?
Honestly I struggle to find any spools of wire anymore. Vape shops will sell only one gauge and never thinner ones like 40AWG. Seems like prebuilt coils is all anyone stocks anymore.
Any advice on where to find good clean wire would be HUGELY appreciated!

I bought the last stock available from Juicy Joe's. They are NOT going to bring in new stock again.
The best bet is to get a bunch of guys together and order directly from Kidney Puncher as a group buy.
The shipping is the major killer and doing a group buy with a large order will be the only viable option.

Well, for me it would be 26, 36 and 42 AWG. I also use 0.3mm ribbon wire now and again. I know Juice Joe has some ribbons and a few others left, but they are mostly out of stock.
@Rob Fisher honestly I'm open to many options. There's not a lot out there so I'll need to take what I get. But ideally some Nichrome, SS316L and Kanthal are my go to's.
If there are some 26 AWG for inner cores and 36 AWG for wraps that would be great!
