Thanks out again, to David from SXmini for sending this nex gen Yihi SXmini PureMax2 out for review. This is the next generation of the previous PureMax that I reviewed here . With an increased battery size, max wattage, and improved PX Pods with juice flow shutoff, I was looking forward to seeing how the SXmini Team improved on an already stellar design.

As what is becoming typical, the SXmini User's Manuals are soo good, I decided to once again, scan it in for you guys, covering all of the basics and features ....









David also threw in the additional SX Link module (and extra USB-C cable), which was for firmware updates, AND, custom wallpapers !!!!! I'll cover this in more detail in the *Bonus section at the bottom of the review ...*



The PureMax 2 ...



The pattern was very hard to capture with the reflections, but I got close ...



Nice smooth grooved sides felt good in the hand, and added some grip. The airflow slider was moved to the side from the previous version, and ranged from ranged from fairly tight MTL (slider up towards pod), to a somewhat restricted DTL (slider down away from pod) ...

Two of the FIRST things I noticed during testing was the haptic feedback when not only inserting pod, but also when your juice levels were going low. Also the 0.96" Display seemed a little bit brighter than the previous model's ..




Testing/Usage:

Having spent a great deal of time with the first gen SXmini PureMax, it became evident this one was different, and had some improvements. The most notable were the PX Pods with juice flow shut off, to prevent any leaking when not in use, and the new haptic feedback alerts. When you inserted a new pod, or juice levels started running low, you would get a little vibration, pretty nice. The new pods worked great, and had the same great flavor that the previous version had, and the shut off was easy to use. I tested all 4 differently ohm'd pods that David thoughtfully included, ranging from 0.4 ohms to 1.2 ohms, and like the previous model, I tested both DTL, and MTL vaping.

Pros:

* Outstanding flavor
* Attractive styling
* Felt great in the hand
* Haptic feedback (new pod, low juice level)
* Airflow range (fairly tight MTL, to somewhat restricted DTL)
* Fire with draw, button, or both
* Firmware updates, customizable wallpapers (requires optional SX Link module)
* One button operation (could also be a con)
* Two (notched) drip tips included, AND, you can use your own 510 tips !!!

Cons:

* Because of the 3, 4, and 5 click operations, sometimes depending on your clicking speed, had to re-do
* One button operation (could also be a pro), required tapping and long holding for choosing/selecting
* Some restraint required when filling, fast/rapid filling could overload air relief
* Could link to unit, upload wallpapers, but could not update firmware
* Small needle tipped bottle only filling (typical for Pods)

Conclusion:

I have to say, going in to this, I wasn't sure how much different this PureMax2 was going to be from the OG, but suffice it to say, it was, but only where it needed to be. The exact same great flavor as the OG was here, and across both DTL, and MTL vaping. At times, I stumbled through the 3, 4, and 5 click sequences (3 to lock/unlock, 4 to adjust power levels, and 5 to enter setup), and had to re-enter the sequence. Probably user error, rushing/pausing, but it happened none the less. Taping, and long holding became second nature quickly, so the ommited up/down buttons were not missed. The haptic feedback when installing a new pod, and/or low juice warnings were a nice touch. The pods were magnietic, and friction fitted, and held snugly in place. The juice shut off worked perfectly, and when finished testing, I turned it off, and checked the next day, and there was NO leaking or seepage.

The 4 different ohm'd versions of the pods all worked well, and were a bit different from each other, which was nice, with the lower ohm'd for DTL, and higher ohm'd for MTL. The display was bright and easy to see and use, and the nav via single button didn't take long to master. Battery life seemed about the same as the previous model, and even with the larger battery, the increased wattage made it seem a wise choice. Thankfully David included the optional SX Link module so I could play around a bit, and I was able to connect, upload/change wallpapers, but was unable to get the firmware (check/update) to function. All in, this was a moderately improved version over the OG. The juiceflow shutoff alone might be enough to compel owners of the OG to upgrade, as it worked without issue. Bigger battery, higher wattage limit, 4 pod/coil choices, and great, great flavor made this one hard to put down, and/or complain about. Having haptic feedback when running dry was a great feature, as you can't see the display while vaping, so getting a little "nudge" to check your juice levels, was a nice touch. If you are like me, and NOT really a "podder", this one, much like the OG, might just change that. I know this one will be sitting right next to the OG in my daily "light, and portable" rotation.

A huge thanks out again, to David from Yihi SXmini for sending this out for review. Including all of the different ohm'd pods, and the SX Link module really allowed me to torture test this one.

Alright my loyal "reading all the way to the bottom'ers", normally I'd stack up some of the "just didn't make the cut" pics here, but instead, I'll drop some of the SXi Tools screenshots that you would see when connecting to the PureMax2 using the optional SX Link, as well as some of the actual menu screens to give you a better idea. I was able to connect to the PureMax2 without issue, upload/replace countless wallpapers, but wasn't able to get the Firmware check/update to function.

The whole device looks super pocket-friendly, almost like a stealthy little sidekick. Real talk though: How’s the pod performance compare to something like the LUXE with GTX coils? Asking for a friend… who may or may not own a herd of picky goats.

Thank you @Old_Goat. I can't really give you a pod comparison, as I am not a "podder", and don't use them, but can still compare them to my DTL, and MTL setups.

Excited for these to reach SA. Was really pleased with the first edition, and the juice flow control fixes the one con I had with previous version, especially for flying.
