This is exactly where I am putting it as well.
If somebody new to vaping wants affordable (also authentic!) kit that will work out of the box to start with, but that they do have an interest in rebuilding later... This tank is probably going to be my Nr.1 go-to recommendation in those cases...
Hi @TheLongTwitch, and welcome.
Based on EVERYTHING you have said, I would consider a Kanger SUBTank as your best probable choice.
Neat thing is that it has off-the-shelf coils, so you dont need to get right into rebuilding.
BUT, also includes the rebuildable "insert" so that you can switch to...
Haven't seen anyone selling them anywhere. Not to say they don't exist or something...
But the 26650 VTC's are not very good. Compared to the 18650's, they lack in many departments.
As much as I can gather the 26650's are rated for 50A pulse, so you would still not be safely firing that low...
Some guy who had his tube almost explode in his pocket or hands, but subsequently had just enough time to throw it into the crowds... that guy would like a word with you.
Jokes aside, you're welcome to scout around the forum, where many videos have been posted about exploding batteries.

I still like my Russian a lot.
But I gotta tell ya, just like the other folks here, my vote goes 100% LEMO.
An authentic tank for the price of a clone. Performance far beyond any clone on the market.
Mostly, the really big thing for me, is the airflow.
Not everyone will like wide open airflow...
If you own and/or use an eLeaf LEMO atomizer...
You can quite easily use Ribbon/Flat Kanthal UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 0.8mm.
It slides into the side-holes just barely with a breath of air to spare.
2mm, 5/4 wraps, leads upstairs coming down; 1.04 Ohms.
I very highly suggest you try it at LEAST...
Plugged hole.
Cracked tank.
Loadshedding.

All dressed up and NOW the world decides to go to hell...
I get ya though. Some days just have your name on it. In red ink if you're lucky, in blood if you're not.
Edit-in-afterthought: You ever try to redo your coil after a dry/burnt/shitty...
The LG's have been on my radar for a while now.
It's the same (i believe) being bundled and sold inclusive with Vaporsharks nowadays.
Reasonable price, depending on what import fees apply after VAT...
What the f....
What is wrong with manufacturers lately?
This is the tenth time or something that an awesome-looking mod peaks my interest, and then that... No USB charging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The same is generally true for IT... but if you think its an easy sell to get your company/client/etc to buy into things like preventative maintenance, fault redundancy, and failover tolerance; Well then I guess ignorance is bliss...
Convincing people to get off that horse where something...
I don't think they're trying to reinvent "vaping".
Looks to me like they're rathing trying to reinvent smoking.
A way to still consume ACTUAL TOBACCO, but in a "safer" manner.
I very highly doubt that any converted vaper would consider this product, but for a lot of smokers who do not want or...
Good point!
MOST recesses are 22 or 23mm.
That pretty much kills the Hana as a possibility.
Vaporshark is flat, so is Vaporflask.
IPV and Sigelei 50/100 are flat too.
I will just have to wait and see if/when I do get a Shark, how wide it is with it's sleeve on.
